Update January 2014:
Thank you for your interest in donating to the Hurricane Sandy Recovery Fund. Our online portal is now closed as the third phase of the fund is about to be distributed to the local organizations working with neighbors on recovering from the storm. Please use this search tool to find your local United Way and learn more about the critical work they do in your community.
United Way of New York City continues to support Sandy-affected community organizations in a multitude of ways. Help make New York work for all New Yorkers.
To respond to the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy, United Way has established the United Way Hurricane Sandy Recovery Fund. Contributions to the Fund will be used by local United Ways along the Eastern Seaboard to address the near and long-term recovery needs of communities that FEMA has declared disaster areas.
At the request of and in coordination with United Way Worldwide, United Way of New York City is managing the Fund and will ensure that all funds are used efficiently and effectively to serve those in need. One hundred percent of donations received (less any processing fees charged by credit card companies) will be granted to charities that are addressing the ongoing recovery needs of communities most affected by the hurricane, and will be used to bolster United Way’s community partners that serve hurricane affected individuals and families, some of whom were already vulnerable and experiencing challenges in meeting their most basic needs.
If you have any questions about the fund, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org, and we will reply as promptly as possible
Donations made to United Way of New York City are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. Please consult our Gift Acceptance Policy in the footer of this page for information about our policies and guidelines.
